Account Information
- When you create an account using email and password, we collect the email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- When you sign in using Facebook Login or Google Sign-In, we receive basic profile information from these providers, such as your name, email address, and profile picture, as permitted by your privacy settings on those platforms.
Usage Information
- Records of which books/PDFs you view, download, or bookmark within the App, used to sync your reading progress and library across sessions.
- Basic device and diagnostic information (such as device type and app version) to help us maintain app stability.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Maktaba account.
- To authenticate you via email/password, Facebook, or Google sign-in.
- To let you access, read, and download PDF books hosted within the App.
- To sync your library, reading progress, and downloaded content across your devices.
- To improve app performance and fix technical issues.
3. Reading and Offline Downloads
Maktaba allows you to read PDF books that are hosted online within the App. You may also download a copy of a PDF to your device so you can read it offline without an internet connection. Downloaded files are stored locally on your device's storage and are used solely to provide offline reading functionality. We do not access, scan, or share the content of files you have downloaded to your device.
4. Third-Party Services
Maktaba uses the following third-party services, which may collect information used to identify you as described in their own privacy policies:

- Cloudinary — used to host and deliver PDF book files within the App.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties except: (a) with the service providers listed above, strictly to operate the App; (b) if required by law; or (c) with your explicit consent.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account remains active. Files you download for offline reading remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
7. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Once verified, we will delete your account information from our systems within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
8. Children's Privacy
Maktaba is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including those provided by Firebase Authentication, to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
